About INSTONIANS CRICKET
Instonians Cricket Club was founded in 1931, originally serving past pupils and staff of the Royal Belfast Academical Institution. In 1962, the club became part of the wider Instonians family through the amalgamation of rugby, cricket, and athletic clubs, a structure that continues today. Over time, Instonians has evolved into a modern, open club, removing its original membership restrictions in 1993 and welcoming players from all backgrounds.
After many years based at Shane Park, the club relocated to Shaws Bridge in 1999, initially in a ground-sharing arrangement. Since 2017, Instonians Cricket Club has enjoyed exclusive use of its cricket facilities, providing a true home and an excellent environment for player development. Today, the club is proud to be a key part of the Instonians multi-sport community, alongside rugby and hockey, at one of Ireland’s premier sporting venues.
With strong men’s, women’s, and youth sections, Instonians Cricket Club continues to grow, balancing competitive success with community, inclusivity, and long-term sustainability.
