About Womens Cricket
The Instonians Ladies Cricket section was established in 2016 and has grown rapidly into one of the strongest women’s cricket programmes in Ulster. Today, the section fields two senior teams and an Under-13 squad, with over 50 players involved across all age groups.
Since its formation, the section has produced numerous representative players, most notably Ireland International Amy Hunter, the youngest-ever ODI centurion in world cricket. In the 2025 season, the ladies enjoyed outstanding success, winning the NCU Women’s League Section 1 title, securing promotion back to the Premier League for the second time, and lifting the Women’s Challenge Plate. The section continues to be a cornerstone of the club’s future growth.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can anyone join Instonians Ladies Cricket?
Yes — we welcome women and girls of all ages and abilities. Whether you are completely new to cricket or have played before, you will find a friendly and supportive environment at Instonians.
Do I need previous cricket experience to join?
Not at all. Many players start cricket as adults. Our coaching focuses on skill development, confidence, and enjoyment of the game.
What equipment do I need?
Players should bring, suitable footwear, and protective equipment where possible. If you are new and don’t yet have kit, please speak to a coach — we will do our best to help.
Are there opportunities to progress or play competitively?
Yes. We run multiple teams across senior and youth levels, offering opportunities for both competitive and development-focused cricket.
Is the club family-friendly and inclusive?
Absolutely. Instonians prides itself on being welcoming, inclusive, and supportive, both on and off the pitch.
