Samaritans is the charity that prevents suicide through the power of human connection. Connecting people in crisis with trained volunteers who will always listen. Every 10 seconds, we answer a call for help. Thousands of volunteers from all walks of life are here every day and night. Listening without judgment. Whoever you are. Whatever your background, beliefs, faith, or identity. We make sure there’s always someone to listen if you’re in crisis or feeling suicidal. Samaritans want to encourage one to talk to someone when life is difficult and a way forward is hard to find. Sharing one’s thoughts at a time of crisis allows us to put them in order and perspective giving us the opportunity to find a way through with our own solution. At Samaritans you will find someone who will listen in confidence, without judgement and will not tell you what to do. Samaritans will give you the time and space to explore your feelings and find your way though a difficult period.
Samaritans want to encourage people to listen to the important things their friends, family and colleagues need to tell them and to devote some time and attention to being better listeners. Having someone to talk to and that person to truly listen can make such a difference.
